Los Angeles native, junior guard Johnny Juzang, is without question one of the best players in his class and arguably the top shooting guard as well. Sitting at about 6-foot-6, Juzang is an elite shot maker and can knockdown shots from about anywhere on the floor. He is a high volume shooter that has that great size and the body frame to play that two-guard position. He is able to play multiple positions on the floor and holds a unique skillset.
He has an elite stroke on his jump shot and spreads the defenses of his opponents. Not only is he able to be a threat from the perimeter, but he is able to create his own shot off the bounce and is an active defender when on defense. Johnny is also able to penetrate the lane and get to the rack whenever his defender is able to close out on him. I had the chance to speak to Johnny and his dad regarding his recruitment just to see where he stands so far going into this AAU season.
The junior two-guard holds offers from Virginia, UCLA, USC, Kansas, Alabama, California, Arizona State, Oregon, and others. Johnny tells me Virginia, UCLA, USC, Kentucky, Kansas, Villanova, Marquette, and Oregon have been in touch with him the most up to this point. He has taken only one official visit and that was to Virginia, but has taken unofficials to USC and UCLA, his dad tells me. “He has been offered a few officials but we did not go on those. We wanted to focus on the high school season.” His dad tells me. His dad also tells me that they plan on taking more visits in the future and they will figure out which schools to visit soon.
Johnny was recently invited to the participate in the USA Basketball mini-camp in Minneapolis, Minnesota during the NCAA’s mens final four on April 4-7th and is also expected to attend the NBA Top 100 Camp in Virginia in June. He will once again be running with the Compton Magic (CA) in the Adidas Gauntlet, one of the best programs, not only on the west coast, but the country.
