2020 SG Malachi Wideman (Riverview, FL) – One of the few players who did not have any buzz coming into the famous City of Palms Classic, Malachi Wideman made somewhat of a case that he deserves some attention. He is a 6-foot-5 two-guard who is a gifted athlete. Malachi was able to show his gifted athleticism in Riverview’s two games at the COP. Wideman is a bouncy guard who was able to draw contact when driving to the whole. He was also able to spread the defense out with hit shot making skills. The junior guard averaged 22.0 points per game in his two games at the COP.
Auburn signee 2019 F Isaac Okoro (McEachern, GA) – The 6-foot-6 forward Isaac Okoro averaged 17.2 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game in McEachern’s four games in the City of Palms Classic. The Auburn signee was efficient all week in Fort Myers along side his teammates Sharife Cooper and Jared Jones. Isaac showed what an explosive player the Auburn Tigers will be receiving. Okoro has a huge frame, which will make you think he plays football and basketball, but basketball is his only sport. He is an excellent finisher and holds incredible strength. Isaac has great power and is a solid floor runner when in transition. His best attribute though comes on the defensive end of the ball. He is a great on ball defender and did a fabulous job holding 2019 F Trendon Watford to only four points in McEachern’s semifinal game.
2021 SG Trevor Keels (Paul VI, VA) – Remember we told you to remember the name Knasir “Dug” McDaniel? Well let us also put down his teammate Trevor Keels. The 6-foot-4 sophomore two-guard had eye-opener type week in Fort Myers with Paul VI (VA). Keels holds a big body frame at the two-guard position and was able to use his frame and size when attacking the rim. He was at his best when in transition and during fast breaks. But in the half court, Trevor was able to connect on a few three points shots and draw fouls when driving the lane. He is a very good defender and was solid guarding some of the top prospects ahead of his class.
2020 F Elijah Hutchins-Everett (Immaculate Conception, NJ)– Hutchins-Everett gave us a look at his game during his time in Fort Myers, Florida. The young junior big man put his talents on display at the City of Palms Classic averaging 15.5 points per game while snagging down 10.2 rebounds per game. Elijah has a huge body but is not necessarily your old school big man, and that is not surprising in this day in age. He was able to show he can face up his defender and show he could make the outside and mid range jump shot. He does hold a nice and smooth looking release when shooting the ball, but he is also able to finish around the rim. He holds solid footwork on defense and was able to keep his man in front of him at all times. Hutchins-Everett could easily play with more effort, especially when it comes to crashing the boards.
